The Annual meeting of the Association of National Board associations was held on September
3rd, 2022 at Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore. Dr Kasturi Rangan, former ISRO Chairman was the
Chief Guest of the event and delivered a talk drawing parallels between space science and
healthcare. Dr Sudha Seshayyan, Vice Chancellor of the Tamilnadu Dr MGR Medical University
decorated the meeting as the Guest of honour and addressed the gathering.
Dr Abhijat Sheth, President of NBE and Dr Minu Bajpai, Executive Director of NBE presided
over the function and had an extensive interaction with the member institutes of ANBAI. The
interaction was moderated by Dr S Rajasekaran, President of ANBAI. While speaking, the NBE
directors highlighted the key areas in which NBE has taken important strides in recent times
such as online learning, improving the standards of teaching and cleared doubts regarding
communication with NBE office and examination patterns. In particular, the role of ANBAI as
an ombudsman between NBE and the member institutes was acknowledged. Dr Sheth also
pointed out that similar to NMC teachers in medical colleges, NBE teachers will be recognised
as professors/ assistant professors based on their years of experience.
Dr Bhabatosh Biswas, Chairman-NIPER delivered the ANBAI Annual oration on “Medical
Training in India”. Dr Devi Shetty, Chairman Narayana Health and ANBAI patron also
addressed the audience. About 100 delegates including representatives from 76 member
institutions attended the daylong event. The highlight of the meeting was the felicitation of
best teachers and nurses of the year from across the country, whom were chosen through a
rigorous selection process. In total, seven awards were bestowed.
Dr Alexander Thomas, Patron of ANBAI was awarded the ANBAI Lifetime achievement award
for his immense contributions to healthcare in India. The meeting concluded following the
annual general body meeting of ANBAI in which Dr Rahul Guhabiswas, ANBAI Secretary, Dr
Srinath, Academic Coordinator, Dr Rishi Kanna, Treasurer and Joint Secretary and Dr Gururaj,
Alumni coordinator read out their reports.
